Bangkok Art and Culture Centre is home for the contemporary art of Thailand and international artists. The masterpieces of creativity are collected and offered to all people here.
The art and culture center is located in the middle of the city, opposite to MBK Center Shopping Mall and next to a BTS SkyTrain National Stadium station making it very convenient for you to have an opportunity to visit art galleries in Bangkok.
The architecture of the building itself is standing out. There are 10 floors in the building and the pathway designed in a circle shape so you can walk up easily.
L floor is an art library for all art lovers and anyone willing to get some inspiration which offers a good environment. Plenty of English and Thai books and art resources, including free Wi-Fi for the members and art supplies are available. There is also kid’s corner zone in the library so the parents can go there with kids for a couple of hours. The library is open on Tuesday - Sunday from 10 am to 7:30 pm, but closed every Monday.
On the 1st floor, there is a Multi-Functional Room which is used for press conferences and meetings.
On the 2nd floor-4th floor, there is an open space for talented artists who present their drawing and painting skills and a couple of them drawing portraits of visitors for a nominal charge of 200 Baht.
There are several stores such as a bookstore, refreshment stall, ice cream shop and coffee lounges on these floors of Bangkok Art and Culture Centre too.
You can find a souvenir shop under the brand of BACC where you can buy various art items such as handmade accessories, key chains and scarf between them too.
There is an information center, meeting rooms and auditorium rooms for conferences, seminars, musicals and film screenings on the 5th floor. Near the information counter you will find a rental locker room for visitors who come to the gallery on the upper floors as the visitors are not allowed to carry any bag bigger than A4 paper size while exploring the gallery and art works. You need either to give your ID or pay a small refundable deposit (100 THB) for a locker.
On the 6th floor, there is a BACC office for you to contact or get needed information.
The main gallery of visual art exhibitions with over 3,000 square meters of exhibition space is located on the 7th-9th floors.
If you are a fan of arts, we suggest you to check the website of BACC prior to your visit there for finding out what's on there because the exhibition here is changed occasionally in order to attract more visitors and to give an opportunity to see different arts.
During our visit, there were many exhibits in an honor of the King. We had an opportunity to see the exhibitions named “Through the Lens of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej Exhibition”, “In Remembrance of the Great King” and "Earth Water Forest Air - the Royal Inspiration" and all of them were really impressive.
All in all, if you're interested in Thai art, culture and history, we’d say it's a must visit. The place is always well organized and has a variety of creative and interesting arts from many famous artists. However, keep in mind that your experience will depend on what is being exhibited on the top floors at the time of your visit. By Boat
Take the boat at Saen Saeb Canal (Khlong Saen Saeb Boat) and get off at Sa Phan Hua-Chang Pier (or Hua Chang Bridge). Then walk for about 300 m to the BACC.
By BTS SkyTrain
Take BTS SkyTrain to National Stadium Station and leave via exit No. 3. Then walk through Skybridge directly to the Bangkok Art and Culture Center - you will enter on the 3rd floor of it.
By Car
The BACC is on Rama 1 road and Payathai road. There is only one car entrance from Payathai Road.
The parking is available at level B1 and B2 but it’s limited.
